Thank You!

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?' " - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

When we started this organization we simply wanted to give kids the chance to be like their friends during the holidays, playing with fun toys they just received at Christmas time. We saw how much of a struggle it was for individuals with significant disabilities to play with toys, because unfortunately, toys are not made with different abilities in mind. We wanted to change that. We wanted to give families the chance to give their loved one a gift that they could use by themselves. For individuals with significant physical disabilities, most day to day things are done for them by someone else. In many cases, when the child receives a toy, it is pushed or controlled by someone else, not by them. It’s a powerful thing to be able to control something on your own, when most day to day things are done for you.

November 1st came and our request line went up. We were AMAZED at the requests for toys we got this year. Initially it seemed like a daunting task, adapting and shipping 500 toys to 45 states and 8 countries. Could we raise enough money to cover parts and shipping? Would enough toys be donated? Who would volunteer to help adapt the toys?

Thanks to the generosity of so many individuals, we were able to make this happen.

We’d like to thank our 200+ volunteers who gave precious hours on their Saturday to help disassemble, adapt, and ship all of the toys at the event. Your hard work and energy you brought to the event is very much appreciated.

A huge thank you to Northglenn high school’s STEM program for letting us borrow your facility, students, and faculty for the event. We could not have asked for a better space or team to work with on the day of the event.

None of this would have been possible without the monetary and toy donations we received prior to the event. It is incredible to have people donate unselfishly to a cause that brings so much joy to families during the holidays.

And finally, thank you to the individuals and families who make this organization worth doing. We understand that your life can be very difficult at times and it is our privilege to help lessen the load during this busy time of year, even a little bit. Your kind requests, stories, pictures, and videos you share with us make Santa’s Little Hackers the organization we wanted it to be: a group making fun accessible for everyone.

Happy Holidays to all!
